Student-Athlete Graduates to be Honoured

Friday, January 31st will see the Niagara College department of athletics & recreation hold the first of two annual Niagara College Knights Grad Nights.

With the Niagara College men’s and women’s basketball programs hosting the Lambton Lions at 6:00 and 8:00pm, the ceremony will take place at half-time of the women’s basketball game.

Knights Grad night will honour 24 members of Niagara College’s fall intercollegiate sport programs graduating from a 2013-14 academic program. The intercollegiate sport programs being represented at the event include men’s soccer, women’s soccer, and golf.

Niagara College director of athletics & recreation Matthew Davies commented “our Grad Night gives us an opportunity to recognize our student-athletes who are finishing their respective academic programs in front of the entire Knights family – their peers, friends, family, alumni, and the Niagara community. It is important that their academic success is celebrated as we continue supporting them through their academic and professional pathway.”

Knights’ student-athletes have had an impressive 2013-14 in the classroom, as the academic average of the 24 graduates is 78.3%. Additionally nine graduating student-athletes possess Niagara College honours standing with an academic average of over 80%.

Student-athletes participating in the ceremony will be presented with a personalized gift of recognition courtesy of the department of athletics & recreation.

Members of Niagara College curling, men basketball, women’s basketball, men’s volleyball, and women’s volleyball will be honoured at the winter Semester Knights Grad Night on February 14th.

All members of the Niagara College community including staff, students, alumni and the general public are welcome to attend. For those unable to be in attendance, the ceremony will be live broadcasted via http://ocaatv.com/members/niagara/.
