Friday, February 14th will see the Niagara College department of athletics & recreation host the first annual winter sports Knights Grad Night.
With the Niagara College men’s and women’s basketball programs hosting the Humber Hawks at 6:00 and 8:00pm, the ceremony will take place at immediately prior to the opening tip-off of the women’s basketball game.
Knights Grad Night will honour 11 members of Niagara College’s winter intercollegiate sport programs graduating in 2013-14 from an academic program. The intercollegiate sport programs being represented at the event include men’s volleyball, women’s volleyball, and women’s basketball.
Niagara College director of athletics & recreation Matthew Davies commented “we are excited to honour our graduating student-athletes from our basketball and volleyball programs. Their commitment to academics and athletics epitomizes the Knight experience, and we are proud to recognize their accomplishments in front of the entire Knights family including their peers, family members, alumni, and the Niagara community.”
The graduating student-athletes from the Niagara College winter intercollegiate programs have had a strong 2013-14 in terms of academics. The cumulative average of the 11 graduates stands at 75.4%. Additionally five of the graduates possess Niagara College honours standing with an academic average of over 80%.
The student-athletes with honours standing include: from the women’s volleyball program Andrea Stoskopf and Alexandria Botelho, from men’s volleyball Matt Scott, and from women’s basketball Tara Giallonardo and Miranda Ross,
Student-athletes participating in the ceremony will be presented with a personalized gift of recognition courtesy of the department of athletics & recreation.
