PREVIEW: Knights Basketball Programs Head North

Niagara Knights men's and women's basketball programs will take a northern voyage this weekend when the two teams travel to Sault St. Marie for a pair of games each against the host Sault College Cougars.

The Knights women's basketball program sports a record of 8-5 and sits in a tie for fourth place in the OCAA West Division. The team is coming off an 80-59 victory over the Sheridan Bruins on January 29th. The Knights bread and butter is their high scoring offense that is averaging better than 76 points-per-game, second most in the province.

Welland native Brooke-Lyn Murdoch has paced the Knights in 2017 averaging a team best 17 ppg since the new year.

On the men's side the Knights are currently the CCAA's No. 4 ranked team, sporting a record of 9-2. The team's only losses in 2016-17 have come to the top-ranked Sheridan Bruins. The Knights lead the OCAA in rebounding, and sit second in points-per-game with a season average of 89.7.

Veteran shooting guard Lequan Hylton will look to continue his strong play, as the Mississauga native has notched 25 and 23 points in the Knights last two outings.

Tip-off on Saturday February 4th is set for 6:00 and 8:00pm, while Sunday's games are set for 1:00 and 3:00pm.
