PREVIEW: Knights curlers head to OCAA Championship

The Niagara College curling team is headed North for the 2017 OCAA Curling Championship being hosted by Sault College, in Sault St. Marie. The event is being held from Feb 16-19 at the Community First Curling Centre.

The Knights are fielding teams in the men's and women's divisions. The women's team consists of dual sport standout Lorelle Weavers (lead), who also competes for the Knights golf team, second Renee Boyce, vice Courtney Smith, and skip Emma Caldwell. Heading into the Championship, head coach Jordan Thin has high hopes for the team. "The Women's team is full of experience that we hope can mesh well together for a strong run at Provincials. They certainly have the ability to win anything they want this season."

On the men's side the team consists of three rookies and a second year player. The roster of lead Jarrod Tice, second Chris Reilly, vice David Cressman, and skip Samuel Steep enter the event looking to gain experience at the post-secondary level. Continued Thin "We are a green bunch and have the goal of grabbing a playoff spot in Provincials. I think this will mark a very successful year for our young team."
