PREVIEW: Important weekend matchups for Knights in Western Ontario

PREVIEW: Important weekend matchups for Knights in Western Ontario

The Niagara Knights men's basketball program (2-1, 4th OCAA West) look to continue the hot start to their season as they make the Western Ontario swing trip this coming weekend. The Knights will visit the Lambton Lions (0-2, 7th OCAA West) on Friday night in Sarnia, then head to Windsor for a Saturday afternoon date with the St. Clair Saints (4-1, 2nd OCAA West).

The number nine nationally ranked Knights are hoping to continue their early season momentum with two road games in as many days. Niagara will kick things off against the winless Lions. They will then travel to St. Clair, who has opened the regular season on a tear. They rattled off four straight victories before succumbing to Fanshawe Falcons (4-2, 3rd OCAA West) in their last matchup.

Offensively Niagara is averaing only 78 points, but have scored key divisional wins against both Mohawk and Humber to kick off the season. However, the key for the Knights thus far has been ball possession. The Knights are the OCAA leaders in both offensive and defensive rebound. The beast like effort on the glass has minimized their opponents offensive opportunities.

A pair of victories on a difficult weekend road trip will go a long way in solifidying the Knights spot in the national rankings. Tipoff on Friday night is scheduled for 8pm at Lambton.
