RECAP: Knights hang on for two point victory over Redeemer

It may have been a little to close for comfort, but the Niagara Knights men's basketball program (5-1, 2nd OCAA West) ran their win streak to five with a 95-93 win over (1-3, 7th OCAA West). The Knights grabbed and early lead and hung on to earn the victory.

Niagara led by as many as 13 points in the fourth quarter. The Royals outscored the Knights 20-9 to finish the game, but Niagara was able to leave Ancaster with a victory.

Lequan Hylton (Mississauga) was the leading scorer for the Knights with 26 points. Hylton shot 70% from beyond the arc, going seven for 10 from three point range. Five other Knights reached double digits in the contest, with a balanced scoring attack being the identity of this team throughout the early stages of the season.

Levi Mukuna (Hamilton) had 16, Jordan Wilson (Nassau, Bahamas) and Van Hutchinson Jr (Nassau, Bahamas) had 12 apiece, Jordon McDonald (Mississauga) added 11, while DJ Morrison (Scarborough) chipped in 10. Hutchinson Jr also added 10 rebounds to record his second double-double of the season.

The story of the game, however, was the play of Redeemer's Rayvon Higdon. Including 17 points in the closing frame, Higdon recorded a season high 44 points. He also added eight rebounds, seven steals, and four assists in the losing cause.

With the victory, Niagara is in the midst of their first five game winning streak since the 2012-13 season. They will return to the court on Wednesday, November 30th to close out the first half of the OCAA regular season against the Fanshawe Falcons (5-3, 4th OCAA West).
