Knights head coach Keith Vassell named head coach of the NBL’s London Lightning

Niagara College Knights men's basketball head coach Keith Vassell has been named the head coach of the National Basketball League's London Lightning.

Vassell has served as the head coach of the Knights since 2014-15. Over the last three seasons he has led the Knights to a record of 34-19 and back-to-back fourth place finishes at the OCAA Championship.

"Keith has done a tremendous job over the past three seasons positioning our men's basketball program toward national contention, and helping reinvigorate the student-athletes' commitment to academics" said Niagara College director of athletics and recreation Matthew Davies. "We are very thankful for his commitment to the Knights Family, and wish him the best of luck with the next step in his coaching journey.

Vassell inherits a London side that cruised to a league championship last season, finishing the regular season with a dominant record of 35-5 before defeating the Halifax Hurricanes in the 2017 NBL finals.

Vassell served as the interim head coach of the Niagara River Lions during the second half of the 2017 season.

The entire Niagara College Knights family wishes Coach Vassell the best of luck during this exciting new opportunity.
