RECAP: MBB lose at home to Bruins

Wednesday, January 31st saw the Niagara College men's basketball program lose a hard fought 91-83 decision to the CCAA No. 9 ranked Sheridan Bruins. The loss drops the Knights to 10-5 on the season and the team currently sits in fourth place in the crowded OCAA West Division.

"We had a very slow start in the first quarter tonight" said Niagara Knights men's basketball head coach Mike Hurley. "We just didn't bring enough heart and intensity. We eventually responded in the third quarter, but came up just short in the fourth due to a few poor decisions."

Fourth year wing Levi Mukuna (Hamilton, ACMT) led all scorers finishing with 25 points on 7 of 15 shooting, while also adding eight rebounds. The veteran six-foot-three standout is averaging a team best 18.7 points-per-game this season.

Joining Mukuna as the Knights leading producers were Van Hutchinson Jr (16 points, 6 assists), local rookie point guard Johnnie Richardson (12 points, 4 steals) and Jordon McDonald (10 points, 8 rebounds).

The Knights will have a short turnaround, as the team will travel to Humber on Saturday to face the 11-4 Hawks. The two teams last met in December in a back-and-forth affair that saw the Knights secure a 102-97 victory.
