The Niagara Knights men's basketball program (4-1, 3rd OCAA West) will look to rebound from their loss against Lambton when they travel to Hamilton, Ontario Wednesday, November 15th to face off against the undefeated Redeemer Royals (5-0, 2nd OCAA West). The Knights swept the 2016-17 season matchups against Redeemer with a 94-76 victory at home, as well as a 95-93 victory on the road.
If the Knights hope to earn their 5th victory of the season, the program must depend on strong performances from their 3rd year guards Van Hutchinson Jr. (Nassau Bahamas) and Jordan Wilson (Nassau, Bahamas). Hutchinson Jr. had a breakout performance in the Knights' previous matchup against Lambton, where he led his program with a game high 26 points and 15 rebounds. Another performance like this will be needed if the Knights hope to be successful Wednesday night. Coming off of a three game absence, veteran guard Jordan Wilson performed admirably with 14 points and 10 rebounds in 24 minutes. Wilson has been a major piece in this lineup, and having him back on the court full time will be a boost to this knights' offence.
The Royals have been an offensive powerhouse this season, averaging a total of 95.4 points per game. If the Knights hope to be successful Wednesday night, they will have to figure out a way to stop the Royals' superstar forward Rayvon Higdon (Rochester, New York). The reigning OCAA player of the year has been dominant this season averaging 24.4 points per game, good enough for 2nd in the OCAA. The Knights will have to be solid defensively as a unit if they hope to shut down a player like Higdon.
Tip-off for Wednesday night's west divisional matchup is scheduled for 8pm.
