RECAP: Knights ground Condors with commanding road victory

After tough losses to Lambton and Redeemer, the Niagara knights' men's basketball program returns to the win column Wednesday night with a 90-58 victory over the Conestoga Condors (2-7, 9th OCAA West). The win brings the Knights to 5-2 on the season and puts them in sole possession of fourth place in the ultra-competitive OCAA west division.

The Knights started the game very well, establishing themselves offensively by rattling off a few good runs. The Knights looked to continue their success in the second half after finishing the first two quarters with a commanding 42-25 lead.

The Knights would continue to cruise in the in the second half by winning the last two quarters 23-17 and 25-16.

When asked about the game Wednesday night, Knights head coach Mike Hurley was happy about the win, but identified certain parts of his program's game that needed to be fixed. "It was great to get back in the win column!" said coach Hurley. "Despite winning all four quarters tonight, there were still too many turnovers and mental lapses in which we need to continue to work on. The positive is that we once again won the battle of boards with 58 rebounds to 35."

Pacing the Knights offensively were Jordan McDonald (Mississauga, Ont.) and Jarad Richardson (Bahamas), each putting up 17 points and 11 rebounds. Another strong performance came from Knights' third year forward Jordan Wilson (Nassau, Bahamas) who contributed 16 points and 10 rebounds, good for his second double-double of the season.

The Knights will be back in action Tuesday, November 28th when they travel to Brampton, Ontario to face off against the undefeated Sheridan Bruins (6-0, 2nd, OCAA West). Tip-off is scheduled for 8pm.
