PREVIEW: No. 4 ranked Knights aim to keep winning against pair of high-powered offences

The Niagara Knights men's basketball program (4-1, 2nd OCAA West), the OCAA's #4 ranked team, will head Southwest for a road trip to Sarnia and Windsor this weekend to take on the Lambton Lions and the St. Clair Saints.

The Knights will look to continue their current two-game winning streak, with their most recent victory being an 89-64 win over the University of Toronto Mississauga Eagles. Their one loss so far this year comes at the hands of the OCAA's #2 ranked Humber Hawks, whom the Knights dropped a 94-81 decision to.

The Lambton Lions, who currently sit in 6th place in the OCAA West, have a 3-2 record on the season. They are a riding a two-game win streak coming into the game and currently have the seventh best defence in all of the OCAA, averaging just 77.0 points against. 

Since 1991, the Knights and Lions have played 50 times. Out of those 50 matchups, the Knights have come out on top in 39 of them, including an outstanding 20-5 record in Sarnia.

The Saints enter into the weekend with a 2-2 record and sit just below Lambton in 7th place in the OCAA.

Against the St. Clair Saints, the Knights have a split 31-31 record against the St. Clair Saints in 62 matchups dating back to 1978. Although both teams have an even record against each other, they are both dominant at home, as Niagara is just 10-21 when playing at St. Clair College.

One thing to watch out for is both the Lions and the Saints have high-powered offences, as the former is averaging 96.2 points per game (2nd OCAA) and the latter averaging 88.0 (8th OCAA). The Knights have one of the OCAA's top offenses themselves, as they are putting up 94.8 points per game (3rd OCAA), so both games look to be exciting matchups. 

Van Hutchinson Jr. (Nassau, Bahamas) is dominating the OCAA so far this season, leading the league in both rebounds per game (11.8) and assists per game (7.2). On top of those two numbers, Hutchinson Jr is also scoring at a career-high, registering 18.2 points per game (12th OCAA).

On November 16th, the Knights will play their first game of the weekend against the Lambton Lions at 8pm. The game will take place at the Lambton College Main Gymnasium in Sarnia (1457 London Road).

In their second matchup on Saturday, November 17th, the St. Clair Saints will play host to the Knights. This matchup is an afternoon tilt beginning at 3pm at the St. Clair College Sportsplex in Windsor (2000 Talbot Road West).
