RECAP: Knights finish away stand with pair of victories against the Sault Cougars

In men's basketball action, the Niagara Knights (7-2, 2nd OCAA West) travelled to Sault Ste. Marie to take on the Sault Cougars in a double-header weekend. After dropping their last match against the St. Clair Saints, Niagara got back on track winning both games against the Cougars.

The Knights would dominate the floor in both matchups, scoring triple-digit points in both games and holding the Cougars to less than 50 points in each game. The final scores of the games were 111-41 and 116-45.

"We had a solid team effort this weekend," said head coach Phil Mosley after his team's weekend performance. "We were able to play lots of guys and work on some defensive systems which will help us later in the season."

In game one, Van Hutchinson Jr. (Nassau, Bahamas) continued his spectacular season by putting up a 29-point, 17-rebound performance.

After getting out to an early lead, head coach Phil Mosley was able to go deep into his bench and spread minutes around. The players who came off the bench didn't disappoint as they were able to put up a combined 51 points including 18 from Daniel Lokole (Welland) and 13 from Jose Ramos (Mississauga).

For the Sunday afternoon matchup, Hutchinson Jr. had a triple-double, his second time doing so this season. He finished with 27 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

Keveshan Padachey (Markham), the Knights long-range sharpshooter, scored 22 points off the bench thanks in part to a 6-11 conversion rate from three-point land.

Rookie and Governor Simcoe Secondary alumnus Rahim Bardi (St. Catharines) had eight points and 12 rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench in the win.

The Knights will play their first home game since November 8th on Friday night after a four-game away stand. They will welcome the Fanshawe Falcons who are currently sitting in fifth-place in the OCAA West with a 5-3 record. After that, the Knights will wrap-up the first half of the season with a home-game against the Sheridan Bruins on Thursday, December 6th.
