Redeemer Completes Second Half Comeback to Down Knights 79-71

November 22, 2019...WELLAND - The Niagara Knights men's basketball team dropped 79-71 decision to the Redeemer Royals (5-2) Thursday night in Ancaster. The loss drops the men to 2-5 on the season, with their lat win dating back to November 7th against Mohawk.

The Knights and Royals were tied at 18 heading into the second frame, where Niagara seemed to have put up a road block on defence, allowing the Royals to just 5 points in the quarter, giving themselves a 32-23 lead at the half. From there, things went sideways for the Knights who gave up 33 points in the third quarter to allow the Royals to claw back into the game. Trailing 56-48 heading into the final 10 minutes, the Knights were unable to get the lead back to secure the win. Redeemer went on to a 79-71 win to improve to 5-2 in the standings, while the Knights dropped to 2-5 with just one game left before Christmas.

In his first game back from injury, top recruit Kennon Larmand (1st year, Welland) picked up 17 points, while Lequan Hylton (5th year, Mississauga) picked up 13, followed by Sterphone Augustin and Jordan McDonald with 12.

"We battled tonight against a very good team," said head coach Phil Mosley. "We showed flashes of playing great on both ends, but were unable to finish with the consistency necessary to get a win on the road. The game marked the return of Kennan Larmand a rookie who has sat out the first part of the season with an injury. He lead the Knights in scoring with 17pts."

Niagara has just one more home game remaining on their schedule before the December break, when they tip-off against Candore College (0-7) Sunday at 1:00 P.M. at home.
