PREVIEW: Men's soccer on the drive for five

Saturday, September 30th will see the Niagara Knights men's soccer program (4-1, 2nd OCAA West) look to extend their winning streak to five when the team hosts the Lambton Lions at 4:00pm at Youngs SportsPlex.

The Knights have enjoyed a fantastic first half of the 2017 OCAA season. The team has won four of five matches, the lone blemish a 1-0 road loss to the OCAA's No. 2 ranked Fanshawe Falcons in their season opener. Since that game, the Knights have reeled off four straight wins, outscoring their opposition 14-3 in the process.

The team has climbed to No. 5 in the OCAA rankings, while veteran midfielder Jordi Amores (Niagara Falls) was named both OCAA and CCAA athlete of the week (September 19th).

Adding to the Knights early season success is Carlos Williams' record breaking performance. The third year striker has three goals on the season, and during Niagara's 5-1 road victory over the Redeemer Royals last week, the St. Catharines native moved into top spot on the Niagara College men's soccer all-time scoring list.

During Saturday's home field matchup against Lambton, the Knights will continue to lean on the stellar goalkeeping of fourth year dynamo Sam Robson. The Milton native has allowed just two goals in five matches this season.

Kick-off for Saturday's OCAA West Division matchup is set for 4:00pm at Youngs SportsPlex.
