Shayne Petrusma of the Niagara College Men's Volleyball Program received a fitting end to the 2012-13 season on Tuesday afternoon when he was named OCAA Men's Volleyball Athlete of the Week.
Petrusma received the honour for his play during the 20th annual OCAA All-Star game held on March 17th. Petrusma was named MVP of the end of year exhibition match, and the Player of the Week selection marks the second time this season the Burlington native has received the accolade.
The fifth-year six-foot-six outside hitter has had an outstanding year for the Niagara College Men's Volleyball Program. Petrusma was named an All-Canadian last month, just the sixth Niagara College student-athlete to receive the honour, and was a CCAA National Championship First-Team All-Star for his play during the 2013 Ironwood Wealth Management Group CCAA Men's Volleyball National Championship hosted by Niagara College.
Petrusma is a Paramedic student at Niagara College, and his awards and accolades this season include:
