RECAP: Knights sweep Saints for first victory of the season

The Niagara Knights men's program (1-1, 3rd OCAA West)  earned their first victory over the season in Windsor on October 30th. The Knights defeated the St. Clair Saints 3-0 to even their record at 1-1 on the season.

It was a great rebound victory for the Knights after a losing a five set thriller in their previous outing. Head Coach Nathan Groenveld echoed the sentiment. "I was proud of how we came out focused, energized, and ready to go," said Groenveld. "We did a great job staying in our system and being patient throughout the match."

Marcus Francis (Pickering) and Jeff Scott (Georgetown) led the way offensively for the Knights, recording 12 and 11 kills respectively. Scott also added three service aces and three stuff blocks on the afternoon. Garrett Suderman (Niverville, MB) ran an effective offence, keeping the Knights balanced and providing ample opportunity for the hitters to score.

"As a team we were tremendous playing within our own system and being patient," Groenveld added. "We did a great job serving, had very few errors, and kept them under consistent pressure from start to finish."

Following a pair of road matches to begin the season, Niagara will return home on Friday, November 4th for their home opener at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre. The Mohawk Mountaineers will be in down, with the match scheduled to begin immediately following the conclusion of the preceeding women's match. Tickets for all home games can be purchased at the door for $5.00 while students and those under the age of 17 are admitted free.
