RECAP: Men’s Volleyball fall to Mountaineers

RECAP: Men’s Volleyball fall to Mountaineers

Saturday, February 4th saw the Niagara Knights men's volleyball program lose on the road 3-0 to the powerhouse Mohawk Mountaineers. The set scores in the contest were 25-14, 25-19, 25-22. The loss drops the Knights to 8-8 on the season and into a tie for the final playoff spot in the OCAA West Division.

First year middle blocker Jacob Williamson led the Knights in scoring, with nine kills and a block. The six-foot-six native of St. Catharines has been a bright spot for the Knights since joining the team in January after recovering from an off-season ankle injury. Williamson is averaging 3.5 points-per-set in his first six OCAA matches.

The Knights have two games remaining against two opponents they are jockeying with for a position in the OCAA post-season. The team will host the Sheridan Bruins on Thursday, February 9th at the Welland Athletic Centre. The winner of the match will qualify for the playoffs, while the loser will likely be left on the outside looking in.

The event will also serve as Niagara College's "Make Some Noise for Mental Health" initiative. The event will see organizations from across the Niagara Region host a mental health service fair throughout evening, while the Niagara College department of athletics and recreation will be giving away prizes and promotional items all night.
