NEWS: Outside Hitter Elijah Bugiardini joins Knights men's volleyball

The Niagara College men's volleyball program is proud to announce the addition of outside hitter Elijah Bugiardini. Bugiardini joins the Knights out of the Guelph Jr. Gryphons club system, and St. Mary Catholic Secondary School in Hamilton.

The dynamic six-foot-three outside hitter is described by Niagara Knights men's volleyball head coach Nathan Groenveld as "an athletic player with a real cannon for an arm."

Bugiardini brings the Knights a playing pedigree that includes numerous Hamilton Wentworth Catholic city championships with the powerhouse St. Mary's Crusaders junior and senior teams. During his time with the Crusaders, Burgiardini was named a two-time Hamilton city all-star.

"My decision to choose Niagara College came down to the excellent coaching with the men's volleyball program and the look and feel of school grounds" said Bugiardini who will enroll in the Niagara College accounting program at the Niagara-on-the-Lake campus.

He continued "I want to be a part of a successful team and develop into a strong player by the time I graduate, and I feel Niagara College gives me the best opportunity to accomplish that."

"In the attacking and service game, he will have a big impact right away" continued Groenveld. "He is hard worker with a huge upside and we are looking forward to helping him unlock that."

Bugiardini joins a Knights men's volleyball program that is enjoying an outstanding 2017 recruiting season, having previously announced dynamic leftside Jaydon Milne and defensive standout Robbie Zalewski. The 2017-18 Knights roster will also features key returnees Jake Williamson and Tristian Swinden at the middle blocker position.

Bugiardini and the rest of the Niagara College men's volleyball program will return to action when training camp opens on September 12th at the Welland Campus athletic centre.
