Friday, February 2nd saw the Niagara Knights defeat the visiting Boreal Vipers (0-15, 10th OCAA West) 3-0. The victory puts the Knights at 8-7 on the season, good enough for 5th spot in the OCAA West Divison. The set scores were 25-17, 25-18, 25-17.
The Knights looked strong Friday night, controlling the match through all three sets. Their ability to stay effective both offensively and defensively resulted in a much needed 2 points.
The Knights were led offensively by their 2nd year outside hitter Mitch Sawatsky. The St. Catharines native was Niagara's most efficient hitter, contributing 6 kills on just 9 attempts.
Niagara looks for the weekend sweep when they host the visiting Cambrian Golden Shield (2-12, 9th OCAA West) at the Welland Campus Athletics Centre tomorrow at 3pm.
