RECAP: Knights fall to Falcons; Look to rebound against Redeemer

Wednesday, February 7th saw the Niagara Knights men's volleyball close out their regular season home schedule with a 3-0 loss to the OCAA Leading Fanshawe Falcons (15-0, 1st OCAA West). Wednesday's result drops the Knights to 9-8 on the regular season, holding them at 4th in the OCAA West Division. The set scores of the match were 25-18, 25-7 and 26-24.

Tonight also served as the Knights' annual volleyball Grad Game that saw graduating veterans Aiden Atkinson (Ingersoll, Ont.), Tristan Swinden (Whitby, Ont.), Jacob Williamson (St. Catharines, Ont.) and Kyle Thiessen (St. Catharines, Ont.) honoured prior to the opening serve.

The Knights struggled Wednesday night, having difficulties keeping up with the pace Fanshawe's offensive attack.

The Knights were paced offensively by 2nd year middle blocker Jacob Williamson (St. Catharines, Ont.) with a team high 7 kills. First year libero Robert Zalewski (Ingersoll, Ont.) led the defensive front with 10 digs on the night.

The Falcons were paced offensively by former Knights' outside hitter Cole Jordan (London, Ont.), who finished with 8 kills on 16 attempts.

The Knights are back in action Saturday, February 10th when the travel to Ancaster, Ontario to close out their regular season against the hometown Redeemer Royals (12-4, 3rd OCAA West). The matchup against the Royals has major implications for the Knights who are battling for crucial postioning in the OCAA West Division.
