PREVIEW: #8 Knights to face #2 Hawks with win streak on the line

PREVIEW: #8 Knights to face #2 Hawks with win streak on the line

The No. 8 ranked Niagara Knights men's volleyball program (4-3, 6th OCAA West) will look to continue their winning streak as they have been red hot as of late. After dropping the first three matches of the season, the Knights have battled back to win four and a row and improve their record to 4-3. This time around, they will be taking on the No. 2 ranked Humber Hawks when they host them at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre on Thursday night at 8pm.

The Humber Hawks enter Thursday's matchup with a 6-1 record and sit in second place on the OCAA West behind the Fanshawe Falcons. Their sole loss so far this season was a 3-0 loss which came against those Falcons, whom are undefeated at the top of the standings.

The Knights and the Hawks have a lengthy history against one another. Since 1994, they have matched up a total of 35 times, with the Knights earning an 11-24 record against them in that time. They will look to defeat the Hawks for the first time since the 2015-16 season when the Knights defeated Humber at home 3-0.

Despite an impressive four match winning streak that has seen them enter into the OCAA provincial rankings, the Knights have a long way to go if they want to break their record for continuous wins. Their longest win streak, which dates back all the way from 1999 to 2001, lasted an astonishing 28 matches.

The Niagara Knights and the Humber Hawks will battle at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre on Thursday night. The women's match will begin at 6pm while the men's match is scheduled for 8pm but will start 30 minutes after the conclusion of the women's match. The match will be streamed live at www.goknights.ca/watchlive.
