Knights down Condors 3-1 to Improve to 3-1 on the Season

Men's Volleyball got back to their winning ways Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 (24-26, 25-13, 25-22, 25-21) win over Conestoga in their home opener.

The Knights dropped the first set in a 26-24 decision to the Condors, but would go on to dominate in the second set, winning 24-13. The Knights never looked back, winning the next two sets to get the eventual 3-1 win.

"I thought this was the second match in a row where our guys really bought into the offensive ideas that we're working on this year," said head coach Tommy Sloan.  "I thought our middles worked hard this week on closing blocks which allowed our defense to be a little more consistent that it had been up to this point. "

The Knights were led by Sam Otten (5th year, Toronto) with 18 kills and Elijah Bugiardini (3rd year, Hamilton) added 13.

"We were able to get a lot of production out of our service game especially from Eli Bugiardini and Sam Otten," said Sloan. "We don't want to rely on needing to get aces all year, but it sure helps to relieve some pressure when we are able to create quick runs of points from the line."

"We're starting to get a feel of what this team's identity will be this year and the guys are playing with a ton of confidence right now."

The Knights, now 3-1, will travel to Hamilton Friday to face-off against Mohawk (1-3) at 8:00 P.M.
