Knights Women’s Basketball Team Unable To Hold Off Mountaineers

The Niagara College Knights Women's Basketball team dropped a 59-51 decision to the Mohawk College Mountaineers on Wednesday night after leading 31-17 at half-time.

"They started to press us, and we turned the ball over, and they made us pay," said head coach Ron Lemon.

The second half-collapse and loss puts the Knights record at 6-8, while the Mountaineers improved to 7-9 in the OCAA West Region.

Mohawk's Rachelle Abella (Hamilton, ON) had a game-high 25 points with 18 of them coming in the second half.

Meanwhile, Kate Montgomery (Waterford, ON) and Allana Arundell (Toronto, ON) each scored nine points for Niagara.

The Knights will look to bounce back from this tough loss on Sunday afternoon, when they host the St. Clair College Saints (5-10).

The Knights beat the Saints 64-55 in their first meeting back on November 20 in Windsor.

Game time Sunday at the new Athletic Centre is 1:00pm.
