Women's Basketball Qualify for OCAA Playoffs

The Niagara College Women's Basketball team entered Thursday night's matchup versus the 12-6 Humber Hawks in a must win situation. A loss would eliminate the Knights from the OCAA playoffs, while a victory would see the team finish in the sixth and final playoff spot in the OCAA West Division. The Knights provided one of their strongest efforts of the season and earned a dramatic 58-53 victory.

The Knights relied on a trio of veterans to secure the win. Potentially playing in their final game in a Knights uniform, all three of Allana Arundell, Shelby Johnston and Kate Montgomery played well for Niagara.

Arundell, a fifth-year guard, led the Knights offensive attack, finishing with 19 points. The Toronto native and two-time CCAA Scholar Award recipient played over 35 minutes in the contest.

Johnston and Montgomery rounded out the Knights offensive attack finishing with 12 and 10 points each. B

The victory sees the Knights finish in sixth place in the OCAA West Division with a record of 8 and 10. The team will now travel to Toronto to face the OCAA East Division's third place Seneca Sting in an OCAA Championship playoff qualifying game.  Tip-off is scheduled for Saturday, February 23rd at 5:00pm.
