RECAP: Knights close out regular season with loss to Humber

The Niagara Knights women's basketball program (8-10, 6th OCAA West) closed out the regular season with a loss to the undefeated Humber Hawks (18-0, 1st OCAA West). The evening served as grad night for Niagara, who honoured Courtney McPherson (Welland), Kaitlyn McPherson (Welland), and Hailey Tippett (Port Colborne) prior to the game for the accomplishments both on and off the court.

Courtney McPherson led the way for the Knights recording yet another double-double, her 13th of the season, with 12 points and 13 rebounds in the 69-49 loss to the Hawks. Kaitlyn McPherson added 13 points of her own.

The Knights next game will be at the OCAA Championships, hosted at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre, on March 3rd. Head Coach Michael Beccaria believes his team is confident heading into the event. "Despite our overall record, we still believe we are trending in the right direction," said Beccaria following Friday's loss.

The Niagara Knights are hosting the OCAA Women's Basketball Championship on March 3-5, 2016 at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre. Visit www.goknights.ca/ocaawbbfor everything you need to know about the event.
