NEWS: McPherson earns OCAA first-team all-star nod

Courtney McPherson (Welland) of the Niagara Knights women's basketball program was named an OCAA first-team all-star at the OCAA Women's Basketball Awards Banquet, hosted by Niagara College. The second-year forward was simply dominant in the regular season for the Knights from start to finish.

The Educational Assistant Special Needs Support student averaged a double-double this season, recording 14.5 points per game and 12.2 rebounds per game. In all she finished the season with 13 double-doubles.  McPherson finished the season ranked eighth in OCAA scoring and second in rebounding. Aside from leading the Knights in both scoring and rebounding, McPherson was the team leader in shooting percentage.

It is not McPherson's first time being recognized at the OCAA level. Last season she was named the OCAA Rookie of the Year, OCAA Second-Team All-Star, and OCAA All-Rookie. McPherson will now set her sights on the ultimately team goals, as the Knights open the OCAA Women's Basketball Championship this evening at 6:00pm against the Algonquin Thunder.
