Knights end season on a winning note with consolation victory over St. Clair

The Niagara Knights women's basketball program ended their season on a high note, winning the OCAA consolation final. The Knights defeated the St. Clair Saints 69-59 to finish the year on a positive note.

Fifth-year players Kaitlyn McPherson and Miranda Ross played their final games in a Niagara Knights uniform, on home court. McPherson took home player of the game honours for the Knights. She had a game high 22 points to go along with six rebounds. 14 of McPherson's points came in the fourth quarter to push Niagara to the victory, where the Knights outscored the Saints 29-17 to secure the victory.

Ross was equally impressive in the final game, recording all eight of the Knights blocks in the game. Half of her blocks came down the stretch in the fourth quarter as Niagara was pulling away from the Saints. Alongside the two graduating players, Courtney McPherson had her third double-double of the tournament with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Alyssa McCabe added 16 points and nine rebounds for the Knights.

For the Saints Shannon Kennedy earned player of the game honours for the second time in three tournament games. The OCAA second-team all-star recorded 16 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Nicole Tam also recorded 16 points in the Saints loss, while Jaide Lyons added 10 of her own.

The Niagara College Athletics & Recreation department would like to thank fifth-year graduating student-athletes Kaitlyn McPherson and Miranda Ross for five tremendous years spent as Niagara Knights. McPherson wraps up her career as the Knights second all-time leading scorer with 821 points, and second all-time in field goals made with 345. Ross finishes as the Knights all-time leader in 3 pointers made with 72, blocks with 114 and rebounds with 589.
