RECAP: Niagara completes doubleheader sweep of Golden Shield

It was a weekend sweep for the Niagara Knights women's basketball program (3-2, 4th OCAA West). The Knights defeated the Cambrian Golden Shield (0-6, 8th OCAA West) 84-50 on Sunday afternoon for their second victory in as many days over the visitors.

Six Knights reached double digit scoring in the contest, with Courtney McPherson (Welland) leading the way with a double-double. McPherson had 18 points and 12 rebounds to set the offensive pace. Xuan Nguyen-Marshall (Scarborough) had 15 points and a game high seven assists. Brooke-Lyn Murdoch (Welland) had 14 points, while Mary Ingribelli (St. Catharines), Kim Shephard (Woodstock) and Emily Naccarato (St. Catharines) rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points apiece.

Niagara will now head west for a weekend doubleheader on November 18th and 19th against the Lambton Lions (2-2, 7th OCAA West) and St. Clair Saints (4-0, 1st OCAA West). The Knights will return home on Wednesday, November 30th when they welcome the Fanshawe Falcons (4-1, 1st OCAA West) for an evening contest. Tipoff is scheduled for 6pm. Tickets for all home games can be purchased at the door for $5.00 while students and those under the age of 17 are admitted free.
