RECAP: Knights down Condors in first ever OCAA Meeting

Wednesday night saw the Niagara College women's basketball program improve to 5-2 on the season with a 61-49 road victory over the Conestoga Condors. The game marked the first ever matchup between the two teams, as the Condors (3-6) are making their OCAA debut in 2017-18.

"We were not at our best tonight" said Niagara College women's basketball head coach Mike Beccaria. "But unlike our last game, we defended well and held our opponent to under 15 points per quarter."

The Knights were again led by veteran forward Mary Ingribelli. The fourth year native of St. Catharines recorded her second consecutive double-double finishing with 13 points and 12 rebounds. The former governor since standout is averaging a career best 17 points and 7.3 rebounds per game this season, and is the reigning OCAA Women's Basketball athlete of the week.

Also turning in strong performances for the Knights were Hope Brown and rookie forward Lauren Frasca. The second year Brown (Caledon) finished with nine points and three rebounds, while Frasca (Welland) who also competes for the Knights women's soccer program, turned in an efficient seven points, five rebounds, and two assists in 17 minutes of play.

The win moves the Knights to 5-2 on the season and into fourth place in the OCAA West Division. The team is currently ranked No. 6 in the OCAA Weekly rankings, and up next will visit the Sheridan Bruins (3-3) on November 28th at 6:00pm.
