RECAP: Women's Basketball soar over visiting Condors

Wednesday, January 24th saw the Niagara Knights women's basketball program improve to 9-5 on the season with an impressive 75-41 home court victory over the visiting Conestoga Condors. The win moves the Knights into third place in the OCAA West Division.

"Another nice win at home tonight" said head coach Mike Beccaria after the game. "At times this season we have struggled to score, and tonight was a prime example. But we were pleased with our defensive effort, and if the defense is good, things will usually go your way."

Veteran wing Mary Ingribelli (St. Catharines) stuffed the boxscore for the Knights. The Governor Simcoe grad finished with 26 points on nine of 16 shooting, while also adding a dominant six steals, three rebounds, and an assist.

Courtney Kilyk (Fonthill) finished with 15 points, seven assists, and four steals, while rookie local standouts Hannah Baker (Thorold) and Lauren Frasca (Welland) added six steals and six rebounds respectively.

With six games remaining in the 2017-18 regular season, the Knights will have a full week off before returning to action on January 31st when they hosting the Sheridan Bruins at the Welland Athletic Centre.

The game will serve as the first annual #NCTalks for #BellLetsTalk Mental Health Matchup designed to help end the stigma surrounding mental health issues in Canada. The event will see free food, popcorn, cotton candy, and Bell Let's Talk swag given away all evening. Admission is free for Niagara College students and $5.00 for all members of the community. Tip-off is set for 6;00pm.
