Kirstyn Atkins joins Niagara Knights women's basketball

The Niagara College women's basketball program is proud to announce the addition of Welland native Kirstyn Atkins. Atkins joins the Knights out of Wellend Centennial and the Niagara Selects club system. She is the second recruit announced by the Knights women's basketball program joining for Jr. National Team standout Bridgett Atkinson.

"Kirstyn is a combo guard who is able to play both the one and two for us" said Knights' women's basketball head coach Mike Beccaria. "Overall we really love her competitiveness and toughness on the court. Her ability to shoot the three will really help our program moving forward."

The eighteen-year-old Atkins will enroll in the Niagara College practical nursing program beginning in September.

"Niagara College is a great school" said Atkins during a meet a greet at the Niagara College Welland Campus Athletic centre. "This is the program that I want, I live very close to the school, and Niagara College has great teachers."

Atkins will join a talented returning core that includes 2017 OCAA 1st Team All-Star Mary Ingribelli, second year standout Hannah Baker (Fonthill), and veteran forward Tianna Stys (St. Catharines).

"My goal is to work hard every time I step on the court" added Atkins. "I want to get better every day, and be a great team player who my teammates can count on."

Atkins and the rest of the Niagara Knights women's basketball program will return to action this September when training camp officially opens.
