PREVIEW: Knights to open postseason with crossover game versus Lancers

Sunday February 25th will see the Niagara Knights women's basketball program host the Loyalist Lancers in an OCAA Playoff crossover match. tip off for the elimination contest is set for 2:00pm at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre.

The Knights finished the 2017-18 regualr season with a record of 14-6, good for fourth spot in the OCAA West division. As a result, the Knights will host the East Division's fifth seeded Loyalist Lancers. The winner of the matchup will advance to the OCAA Championship hosted at the Humber College Athletic Centre in Etobicoke, Ontario from March 2nd to March 4th. The winner of Sunday's playoff action will open the tournamnet with the victor of the crossover matchup between Conestoga and Georgre Brown.

The key to a Knights' victory Sunday afternoon is to find ways to shutdown their star guard Jenni Thompson. The Lancer has been incredible for her program ranking 2nd in the entire OCAA this season with 20.1 points per game.

Ranking fourth in the OCAA with 19.1 points per contest, Knights 4th year guard Mary Ingribelli will be continued to lean on if the program hopes to find continuing success. The St. Catharines, Ontario native has entered the postseason red hot finishing with 18 or more points in the last 7 regular season contests.

The two teams did not meet during the regular season. Tip off is set for 2:00pm and admission is free for all NC students and those under the age of 18. For those unable to be in attendance, the game will be livestreamed at www.goknights.ca/watchlive.
