PREVIEW: Knights look to tame Lions with crucial home victory

PREVIEW: Knights look to tame Lions with crucial home victory

Thursday, November 9th will see the Niagara Knights women's basketball program (2-2, 5th OCAA West) face off against the Lambton Lions (0-3, 10th OCAA West). With a victory against the Lions Thursday night, the Knights can go over .500 for the first time this season. The Knights swept the season series last season with victories at home (81-55) and on the road (89-51).

The Knights are coming off of a commanding 82-62 victory over the St. Clair Saints (1-2, 9th OCAA West) and hope that some of that success can transfer over to Thursday night's west divisional matchup. The Knights will look to their dynamic duo Courtney Kilyk (Fonthill, Ont.) and Mary Ingribelli (St. Catharines) to lead the offence to their second victory in as many games. Kilyk was awarded Knights' female athlete of the week for her outstanding performance against St. Clair Sunday afternoon, finishing with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.

Even after last year's success against the Lions, the Knights must not take this team lightly. The Lions are currently winless this season and are hungry for a victory after a crushing defeat by the Redeemer Royals (74-47). They will enter Thursday night's games motivated to rebound from this tough loss with their first victory of the season.

Tip-off for Thursday night's game at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre is scheduled for 6pm.
