The Niagara Knights women's basketball program will look to get back on track in 2018 when they host the visiting UTM Eagles (3-6, 9th OCCA) Friday, January 12th. The latest matchup between the two west division programs resulted in a 77-57 Knights' victory.
Friday night will also see the Knights Celebrate Fall Sport Grad night, honouring the graduating members of Niagara's fall varsity programs. The graduating members include Marc-Andre Boucher (Soccer), Carlos Williams (Soccer), Tyler Stranges (Soccer), Brianna Pietrangelo (Soccer), Nicholas Goffredo (Cross Country), Josh Turner (Cross Country), Abegale Rodrigues (Cross Country), Leah Hosack (Cross Country), Letisha Vantresca (Cross Country). Niagara College would like to thank each athlete for their respective contribution to the success and continued development of their varsity program.
After a tough month of December, the Knights will look to their veteran's Mary Ingribelli (St. Catharines) and Courtney Kilyk (Fonthill, Ont.) to lead their program to their first win of 2018. The star duo have been the core of the Knights' offence this season, and strong offensive performances from each could result in a much needed home victory.
If the Knights hope to find success against the Eagles, they must find a way to shut down 2nd year guard Akasha Moore Samuels (Milton, Ont.) and 1st year forward Bianca Hatchett (London Ont.). Moore Samuels currently leads the Eagles with 15.3 points per game while Hatchett is averaging 10.9 points and 12.7 rebounds per game.
Tip-off for Friday night's west division battle is set for 6pm at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre.
