RECAP: Knights Fall to high-flying Hawks; Look to rebound against Lions

Saturday, February 3rd saw the Niagara Knights women's basketball program fall to the OCAA leading Humber Hawks 77-48. The loss drops the Knights season record to 10-6, slotting them into 5th spot in the OCAA West Division standings.

The Knights started strong in the first quarter, finishing down by one point. Niagara would continue to compete in the second quarter, finishing the half only down by nine. The defense would begin to struggle in the beginning of the second half, giving up a game-high 27 points in the 3rd quarter. The gap created in the third proved to be too much for the Knights to rebound from, sealing the Hawks' 16th victory of the season.

"I am pleased that our level of competing was excellent Saturday night," said Knights Head Coach Mike Beccaria. "The mood in locker room after was that we should take the positive from that."

The Knights' offence struggled from beyond the arc, finishing the game 1-15. "From a technical stand point we are really in a shooting slump, especially from beyond the three point line. It's certainly something that needs to be addressed," said Beccaria.

Pacing the Knights offensively was their 4th year guard Mary Ingribelli. The product of St. Catharines, Ontario finished with 18 points and 8 rebounds.

The Knights will look to rebound from their loss against Humber when they travel to Sarnia, Ontario Saturday, Febraury 10th to face off against the Lambton Lions (2-15, 10th OCAA West).
