Winning Woes Continue for Knights Women's Hoops with Loss to Undefeated Humber Hawks

November 15th, 2019...WELLAND - The Niagara College Women's basketball team suffered their sixth loss of the season after the undefeated Humber Hawks (5-0) rolled into town for a 105-60 win.

Head coach Chris Rao knew his team was in for a challenge with Humber being a powerhouse program for the last number of years- this season being no exception.

"Humber is an excellent team and do a lot of things well," said Rao. " It's good for our players to play against that type of physicality and effort. We have to put that game behind us and get ready  to have a good week of practice to get ready for Redeemer."

Former University of Waterloo guard Francine Smith (4th year, St. Catharines) led the Knights in scoring with 13 points, followed by Mackenzie Schroeder (1st year, St. Catharines)  with 10.

The Knights will look ahead this week to their tilt with Redeemer, also struggling in the win column this season, matching Niagara's current record of 0-6. Rao and his team are hoping to get that first win, and head into the Christmas break with a huge monkey off their backs.

"It would be a huge confidence booster for us to get a win in before the break, "said Rao. " We would end this half of the season on a high note for sure."

The Knights will travel to Redeemer for a 6:00 tip-off on Thursday for their last game before breaking for the holidays.
