Emily Babcock Joins Women's Soccer Program

The Niagara College department of Athletics and Recreation is pleased to announce the addition of Emily Babcock to the women's soccer program. Babcock competed at the high school level with the Humberview Secondary School Huskies, and at the club level with Brams United Angels.

The 18-year old native of Caledon East made her way on to Frank DeChellis' radar during a holiday tournament in December.  DeChellis who serves as head coach of both the men's and women's soccer programs at Niagara College immediately liked what he saw.

DeChellis feels that Babcock"brings a lot to the table.  She is tough as nails, not afraid to defend, and is very comfortable with the ball."

Babcock will enroll in the Niagara College Educational Assistant – Special Needs Support program beginning in the Fall. She commented "I felt like Niagara would be a good fit for me. The campus was not too big and not too small, and I was impressed by Coach DeChellis and his vision for the team."

Babcock and the rest of the Knights women's soccer team are currently in the midst of a high-performance off-season training and evaluation program designed elevate the fitness and athleticism of the entire Niagara College soccer program.

"I want to be an important part of the team's success" added Babcock. "I'm always looking to improve my skills, and this is a great opportunity."

The five-foot Babcock will bring the Knights midfield much needed high-level experience and versatility. Based on her commitment to training, the Knights coaching staff feels she has the potential to make an immediate impact at the OCAA level.

DeChellis continued "With her intensity and high work output, I look forward to Emily providing a strong presence in her first year with our women's soccer program. She is a good person and will be a welcome addition to the team"
