Women's Soccer set to Host Mohawk

Coming off their first win of the season, the Niagara College women's (1-6, 8th West) program will be looking to keep the momentum going.

On Thursday, October 2nd, the Knights will be playing host to the Mohawk Mountaineers (2-3-1, 6th West).  The Mountaineers are coming off a 4-0 loss to the first place Sheridan Bruins (5-0-2).

The last time these two teams met, Mohawk walked away with a 2-0 win over Niagara.  This year, the Knights are looking to change that and perhaps play spoiler to the Mountaineers playoff hopes.  Mohawk is vying for the last spot in the OCAA West and a loss Thursday night could potentially put an end to that.

On September 27th, the Knights picked up a road win from the Lambton Lions (0-5-1, 9th West) which saw a few players come into their own.  Nicole Forbes (Ajax) was a standout at four different positions, helping fill in for some injured players.  "Having Nicole is like having a very high end Swiss Army knife", commented DeChellis. "Whenever we need a spot filled, Nicole has the skill set to help us move forward."

Heather McKay (Niagara Falls) and Sarah Morris (Niagara Falls) also played their best soccer of season and will be looking to carry it into the game on Thursday.

Kick-off is set for 4:00pm at Youngs SportPlex in Welland.
