The Niagara College women's soccer program is proud to announce the addition of standout goalkeeper Alexis Hebert. The Waterdown native joins the Knights out of St. Mary Catholic Secondary School and the North Mississauga club system.
"I chose Niagara because the atmosphere is great and the school just seems like the perfect fit for me" said the 18-year old keeper. "I also really like the location of the Niagara-on-the-Lake campus, its proximity to the commercial and entertainment areas could lead to future employment."
The talented five-foot-two Waterdown native will enroll in the Niagara College business – sales and marketing program beginning in September. She joins a 2017 recruiting class that features a wealth of talent including full back Lauren Frasca (Welland), NCAA midfield transfer Renee Lafrance (Burlington), and fellow North Mississauga club member Alex Craig (Oakville).
"What immediately caught my eye about Alexis was her athleticism and communication skill" said Niagara Knights women's soccer head coach Rob Lalama. "These skills give her complete control of the penalty area. She also has exceptional foot skills and fantastic shot stopping ability."
The former St. Mary's girls' soccer MVP award recipient is looking to be "the best possible player I can be, while contributing to the total team element of the Knights."
Niagara Knights goalkeeper coach Gerry D'Angelo is excited at the prospect of having a talent like Hebert patrolling the goal area in the coming seasons.
"Alexis will definitely be a presence in our goal' said D'Angelo during a scholarship signing and meet and great at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre. "I'm really excited to see how game grows and progresses during her time in a Knights uniform."
Hebert and the rest of the Niagara College women's soccer program will return to action on August 15th when tryouts and training camp opens at 4:00pm at Youngs SportsPlex in Welland.
