RECAP: Women's soccer fall to Mountaineers

Wednesday afternoon saw the Niagara Knights women's soccer program fall 2-0 to the visiting Mohawk Mountaineers at Youngs SportsPlex in Welland. The loss drops the Knights to 0-2 on the season while Mohawk improves to 2-0.

"In training this week we were sharp and energetic. Unfortunately the opposite held true Wednesday afternoon" said first year Niagara College women's soccer head coach Rob Lalama."

The opening 20 minutes of the contest proved to be the difference for the Knights, as the team struggled in the early stages and allowed Mohawk to jump out to a 2-0 lead with goals in the 14th and 19th minute respectively.

"Early indecisive play, lost 1v1 battles and a lack of energy were the reason we went down two goals in the first half. An insurmountable lead on this day" continued Lalama. "This team is much better than it showed today. I know it and the players know it. We'll get back to training, work on a few things and we'll be ready for St. Clair on Sunday."

The Knights will next travel to Windsor for a 2:00pm matchup against the 2-0 St. Clair Saints on Sunday, September 17th. The next home field match for the Knights is schedule for September 30th when the team hosts the Lambton Lions.
