RECAP: Women's team earns first victory of the season

On a scorching hot Saturday afternoon, the Niagara Knights earned a 2-1 victory over the Lambton Lions, marking their first victory of the season. The Knights are now 1-3 on the season and are 4th in the OCAA West division.

The story of the game was the Knights' rookie midfielder Kaylee Boulley (Chatham, Ont) who with both of the Knights goalies injured, was put through a week long goalkeeping boot camp to start her first OCAA  game as a Keeper.

The Knights were the first to draw blood as first year striker Michelle Maecker (Fonthill, Ont) netted her second goal of the season in the 34th minute. It was then Knights' midfielder Kara Latham (Welland, Ont) getting on the scoresheet in the 64th minute, propelling the knight to a 2-0 lead.

After Lambton scored to make the game 2-1, emergency goalkeeper Kaylee Boulley made a spectacular penalty kick save, preserving the 2-1 road victory for the Knights. For her efforts, Boulley earned Niagara College's athlete of the week.

The Knights head to Redeemer University (0-4, 5th OCAA West) Tuesday, September 26th looking for their second win in as many games.
