Knights OCAA Championship Bound with 6-0 Win Over George Brown

October 22 2022...WELLAND - The Niagara College Knights women's soccer team is heading back to the OCAA Championship with a 6-0 win over the George Brown Huskies in this afternoon's east-west crossover match.

Niagara will head to Durham College for the 2022 OCAA Women's Soccer Championships Oct 27th - 29th,  after missing last season's championship in a 2-0 loss to Humber in the crossover qualifying match one year ago.

Leading the way for the Knights on the scoresheet this afternoon was Knight's star Sydney Sica, who netted four of Niagara's six on the day. Sica got the blue and white on the board first with a penalty kick just before the halftime to end the first half up just 1-0 over George Brown.

Sica again opened the scoring in the second half to notch her second of the night to go up 2-0, and would add two more to give the Knights a comfortable 4-0 lead with 20 minutes remaining. Niagara was again awarded a penalty kick, where first-year forward Tori Hultink found the back of the net before Rylan Greatrix popped in the game winner at the 75th minute mark.

Sica finished the regular season with 12 goals and now heads in to the post-season with four.

The Knights will now prepare for their quarterfinal match on the 27th against Algonquin College, who defeated Fanshawe 2-1 in their crossover game earlier today. Time TBA.
