PREVIEW: Women's Volleyball vs. St. Clair

PREVIEW: Women's Volleyball vs. St. Clair

With the 2014-15 OCAA regular season coming to an end, the Niagara College women's volleyball (14-3, 2nd West) program will host the St. Clair Saints (11-5, 4th West) on February 15 to wrap up the regular season.  Due to Redeemer College hosting provincials this season, Niagara will miss out on the luxury of a first round bye in the playoffs.  Instead, the Knights will enter the playoffs as a three seed, hosting a playoff game against the sixth ranked team in the OCAA East.

When these two programs matched up at the beginning of the season, Niagara went on the road and defeated St. Clair 3-1 – 20-25, 25-19, 25-14, 25-23.  Fifth year outside hitter Lucy McLay (Stratford) and fourth year middle blocker Alexandria Botelho (Stoney Creek) led the Knights with 15 points each.  First year setter Bailey Davis (Georgetown) had a game high 38 assists.

The Knights may not have much to play for in this game, but they are on a seven game win streak.  St. Clair trails Sheridan (12-6, 3rd West) by two points and can move up one spot in the standings, therefore they will be bringing their best game for Niagara on Sunday.
