PREVIEW: Women's Volleyball ready to #MakeSomeNoise against the Bruins

Thursday, February 9th will see the Niagara college women's volleyball program host the Sheridan Bruins at 6:00pm at the Welled Campus Athletic Centre. For the third consecutive season, the Knights will finish with at least 13 wins, and will finish in second place finish in the OCAA West Division.

With two games remaining in the regular season, the team has an opportunity to win 15 games, equalling their win total from 2014-15.

The Bruins enter Thursday's matchup battling for the final playoff spot in the OCAA West Division. With wins in their final two matches the Bruins can qualify for the post-season.

The Knights will rely on their dominant second-year outside hitter Jordan Koslowski (Hamilton). Koslowski leads the OCAA in scoring with an average of 4.2 points-per-set. Koslowki is averaging over 18 points-per-match since the mid-season break, a stretch that included a 29 point performance on January 29th against the Conestoga Condors.

Defensively, the Knights will lean on libero Kennisis VanSoelen (Orangeville) who leads the conference in digs with 200, and fifth-year middle blocker Linnea Davis (Brampton) who sits third in the OCAA West in blocks with 32.

The doubleheader men's and women's volleyball matches will get underway at 6:00pm at the Welland Campus athletic centre. The event will see the Niagara College department of Athletics and Recreation #MakeSomeNoise for mental health awareness.

The event will feature a social media campaign championed by members of the nine Knights' intercollegiate athletic programs, event t-shirts and apparel, prize giveaways, and most importantly a service fair featuring local Niagara community groups that support and provide programming related to mental health. Attending members include CMHA Niagara Branch, Gateway Welland, Pathstone Mental Health Services, and Niagara College counselling services.
