RECAP: Knights sweep weekend series with win over Cambrain

Saturday, February 3rd saw the Niagara Knights women's volleyball program sweep their week series after defeating the Cambrian Golden Shield (6-10, 7th OCAA West) 3-1. The win improves the Knights to 10-6 on the season, climbing them to 4th spot in the ultra-competitive OCAA West Division. The set scores  of the match were 19-25, 25-22, 25-14, and 25-19.

After losing the first set, Niagara would rally to take the next three sets for a much needed 2 points. The Knights defense would prove to be the difference maker Saturday afternoon, out-digging Cambrian 53-36.

"Rachel Rivers and Jordan Koslowski were phenomenal today," said Knights' head coach Nathan Janzen. "They played great volleyball both offensively and defensively."

Jordan Koslowski (Hamilton, Ont.) and Rachel Rivers (Cambridge, Ont.) paced the Knights offensively contributing an impressive 17 and 15 kills to the winning cause. Leading the defensive front for the Knights was their 2nd year Libero Shayna Graham (Welland, Ont.) with a match high 12 digs.

Offensively, the Golden Shield was led by their 1st year outside Hitter Isabelle Rivest (Sturgeon Falls, Ont.) with a team high 9 kills.

The Knights are back in action Wednesday, February 7th when they host the visiting Fanshawe Falcons (12-3, 2nd OCAA West) at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre.
