RECAP: Knights drop 5 set thriller to Sheridan

Sunday, January 14th saw the Niagara Knights women's volleyball program drop their 5 set marathon 3-2 to the Sheridan Bruins. The loss puts the Knights to 7-3 on the season, maintaining 3rd place in the OCAA West Division. The set scores of the match were 25-21, 25-21, 18-25, 14-25, 15-17.

The Knights opened the match Sunday afternoon with impressive back-to-back set victories, putting themselves in position for the match victory. However, Niagara would begin to struggle after the first two sets, dropping the third and fourth sets, forcing the fifth and final set.

Both programs battled hard in the final set, but it was ultimately Sheridan pulling through with 17-15 victory.

When asked about the contest, Knights' head coach Nathan Janzen was disappointed with the result, but was ready to put the game behind them and get back to work. "Despite the loss, I'm pleased with both our passing and serving as we worked very hard on both elements throughout the break," Said Janzen. "As a team, we will trust the process and continue to get better every day in practice."

The Knights look to rebound from their loss to Sheridan when they host the undefeated Humber Hawks (10-0, 1st OCAA West) Thursday, January 18th at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre.
