Knights Cruise to 3-1 Victory over Bruins

February 10th 2020…WELLAND – After coming off a 3-0 win over Redeemer College Thursday night at home, the Niagara College Knights women's volleyball team travelled to Oakville Sunday to lock up a 3-1 (16-25, 25-20, 25-17, 25-15) win over the Sheridan Bruins.

The Knights improve to 10-6 with two regular season games remaining, and sit fifth in the OCAA West.

Kristen Oudman continued to show why she is a deserving candidate of the OCAA All-Rookie team by putting up an easy 12 points (11K, 1SA). Natasha Desjardins continued to lead the Knights with a quiet 16 points (12K, 2SA, 2BS)

Veteran Tamara Edwards put up nine kills and hit .667 with second solid performance after Redeemer Thursday (9K, .750 hitting efficiency).

Head coach Steve Dow was less than pleased about his team's slow start, but impressed with his team's dedication to find their way back into the game and take away the win.

"After a very slow start and poor adherence to the game plan, we had a serious wake up call getting picked apart in the first set," said Dow.

"I was impressed that the girls decided to turn their mindsets around and start competing. Sheridan came out ready to play and we did not. With that being said, we did turn it around."

The Knights will close out their regular season this weekend with two home games against Cambrian College (3-13) Saturday night, and Boreal College Sunday afternoon (0-16).
