February 27, 2022 - The Niagara Knights women's volleyball team extended their winning streak to three games in Saturday's 3-2 ( 25-21,30-32,25-18,28-30,15-11) win over the Fanshawe Falcons.
The Knights came out firing out of the gate getting the 5-0 lead early in the first set but the Falcons worked quickly to chip away at their lead with both teams eventually taking turns having the lead. Niagara prevailed through set one 25-21 to go up 1-0.
The Knights kept the tempo up through the second set where they found themselves up 8-5 before the home team turned things around and eventually found themselves ahead of the Knights mid way through the set. Through a lot of back and forth action, it was the Falcons who came out on top in set two, 30-32.
The Falcons cruised to a quick 5-0 lead in the third frame but were quickly snuffed out by the Knights who were aggressive on the attack and jumped out to a 20-16 lead, eventually taking set three 25-18 and going up 2-1 in the game.
Things looked good for the Knights in set four after it looked to be an easy win for Fanshawe. The Knights stormed back to go on a 4-0 run to eventually tie things up at 23 all before both teams went back to exchanging the lead. The Falcons eventually took set four 28-30 to force a fifth set.
The blue and white came out swinging in the final set, getting out to an early 7-2 lead over the home team. Fanshawe came back to tie the game at 11, but the Knights managed to put the Falcons away with a four point run and go on to win set five 15-11 and win the match 3-2.
With the win, the Knights improve to 4-2 and will look to keep their hot streak going against the St. Clair Saints (4-2) this afternoon.
