RECAP: A rainy day at Fanshawe sees Knights women finish 10th; men 12th

It was a rainy start to the 2016 OCAA cross country season at the Fanshawe Invitational at the Fanshawe Conservation Area in London. However, it wasn't enough to stop cross country runners from kicking off the invitational season.

For the first time in program history, the Knights cross country team fielded a full complement of females runners. Niagara placed 10th with a cumulative score of 198, led by Kayla Amorim (Kitchener) who finished 44th overall with a finishing time of 24:48. The Knights team was rounded out by Annie Jones (Ottawa), Brittany Moore (Wawa), Jennifer Siman (Etobicoke), and Kaitlyn Bishop (Milton) who finished 55th, 67th, 85th and 91st respectively.

On the men's side Gavin Martin (Beamsville) was the highest finisher for Niagara, finishing 39th in a time of 31:39. Cumulatively the Knights men finished in 12th position with a cumulative score of 182. Joshua Turner (Grimsby) finished 47th, Russell Gibson (Oakville) was 49th to both crack the top 50 in the event. Adam Martynek (St. Catharines), Dan Howes (Toronto), and Nicholas Goffredo (Little Britain) finished 59th, 82nd, 83rd, and 84th to round out the Knights roster.

Niagara will next race on October 15th at the Seneca College Invitational at Seneca's King Campus.
