RECAP: Cross Country season concludes at OCAA Championships

The Niagara Knights cross country team completed their season at the men's and women's OCAA Championships on Saturday, October 27th.

Niagara's featured a pair of female runners in the competition. Shannon Rotteveel finished the 6km race with a time of 31:47, a pace of 5.14km per hour. Rotteveel finished 67th in the women's individual race. Melanie Forget finished just 2 spots behind her Knights teammate, crossing the line in a time of 31:57 for a 69th place finish.

On the men's side, the Knights had six racers in the 8km race. Leading the way for the Knights was David Ahong who finished with a time of 31:59, which placed him in 57th overall in the men's individual standings. Immediately behind him in 58th was Peter van den Bos (32:06).

Rounding out the Knights were Janik Luehrs (65th, 32:33), Malachi Clark (78th, 33:24), Josh Turner (80th, 33:59) and Chris Vanlanthen (85th, 34:30). As a team, the men finished 15th overall in the team standings.

Placing first overall in their respective categories we're Kyle Rooke (Mohawk) for the men's individual race with a time of 26:44.7 and Janelle Hanna (Fanshawe) for the women's individual race with a time of 23:44.5. In the team standings, the St Clair Saints captured the first-place finish on the men's side while the Fanshawe Falcons won on the women's side of things.
